Obituary provided by Barry McWilliams, Captain of the Lady Victoria Boat Club

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of our fellow LVBC member and friend in rowing, the Reverend Dr R J Gordon Gray, on 15 December.

Gordon joined QUBBC in 1953, and was elected Captain for the 1957-58 season. In 1956, he rowed at 7 in the Senior VIII, they were Irish champions and won the big pot. In 1957, Gordon didn't row until after the exams, when he was one of those who put together the 2nd Senior VIII which retained the big pot - he again rowed at 7. In 1958, he rowed in the Empire Games crew - which he selected, as Captain - this was the crew that went to Trinity Regatta, and won every event they entered.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gordon's wife Pat, and his sons Philip, Timothy and Jeremy, sister Marlene, and the entire family circle.
