GRADUATE IS NEW CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER AT HORIBA MIRA

World-leader in advanced automotive engineering, research, development and testing, HORIBA MIRA which is based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, has appointed Queen’s graduate Graeme Stewart as its new Chief Technical Officer.

Graeme joins HORIBA MIRA as part of the Executive Team and takes overall responsibility for the technical strategy, implementation and delivery.

Holding a first-class BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s (1996), an MSc in Energy Technology from Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland (1999), Graeme also has a qualification in Leading Professional Services Firms from Harvard Business School, USA (2016).

Graeme brings with him a wealth of engineering experience. He previously worked at Ricardo for 9 years, holding a number of positions including most recently that of Programme Management Director. A Board member role he was responsible for the delivery of all projects against time, quality, customer satisfaction, budget and cash performance targets.  

Prior to this, he was Managing Director of the Ricardo Vehicle Systems Business Unit where he had full commercial performance, sales and project delivery responsibility.

He also spent 10 years at Visteon, culminating in his role as Business and Product Development Manager.

Speaking of his appointment, Graeme said: “It’s a very exciting time to be joining HORIBA MIRA.

“Not only does it operate with its people, culture and values at its heart but its long-term vision through investment in engineering, R&D and facilities has been clearly demonstrated, and enabled further, by being part of the HORIBA family.”

He added: “Automotive technology is evolving rapidly in disciplines such as cybersecurity, electrification and CAV. HORIBA MIRA is at the forefront of this, adding value to its customers by leveraging the synergies between its engineering and testing business, alongside R&D.

“The team here is working incredibly hard to ensure vehicles of the future are safer, cleaner and smarter and I’m hugely optimistic as to how we can meet our customers’ needs in these areas of emerging technology.”

Graeme joins HORIBA MIRA as the final member of the new executive team, assembled by Declan Allen after his appointment to Managing Director in April 2018. Commenting on the latest appointment to his senior team Declan said: “Graeme’s vast automotive experience alongside his vehicle and programme knowledge, will be key to continuing our development as a world-leading automotive product development and services brand.

“We’re at an exciting point of change with a new executive team in place and I have no doubt that he will successfully lead his team to further deliver exceptional service for our customers globally.”
