RETAIL TECHNOLOGY FIRM PÉARLAÍ ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH QMS

08 January 2019

Newry-based technology firm Péarlaí – which provides exclusive, personal year-round store discounts through a VIP loyalty fob – has announced a new partnership with Queen’s Management School at Queen’s University.

Péarlaí provides shopping centres and high street retailers with real time tracking through smart ID's (via the VIP fob) of individual customer journeys through their physical stores, enabling highly targeted, relevant and timely promotional and advertising opportunities.

The retail technology company has been developing the VIP loyalty smart technology in conjunction with a number of shopping centres throughout the UK for the past two years. Their smart technology is the first of its kind in the retail marketplace.

By using the Péarlaí platform, shopping centres now have the ability to turn anonymous shoppers into loyal customers. The shopping centre provides their best customers with a VIP keyring that enables the shopper to receive year-round exclusive offers and discounts via text message within the shopping centre.

In addition to being kept up-to-date with offers, shoppers also receive special loyalty rewards such as free coffee and parking.

As part of the arrangement, stores hope to increase footfall and sales by engaging directly with customers while they are on site. Furthermore, through deep analytical data processing of the customer journey, retailers will be able to more accurately and reliably predict buying behaviours.

Dr Barry Quinn, Lecturer in Finance, and Dr Byron Graham, Lecturer in Business analytics from Queen’s Management School, have been working with Péarlaí to better develop the existing data that the company collects through their platform.

Peter McCaul, CEO of Péarlaí said: “Working closely with local experts like Dr Quinn and Dr Graham at Queen’s Management School has provided new opportunities for the commercialisation of the data we collect through our product offering. It makes for exciting times in the retail technology space.”

“Through the use of predictive modelling and analytics we have been able to help Péarlaí better understand their data and have assisted in implementing processes to utilise the vast amount of retail data which their platform captures. This innovative technology will help draw customers back into the shops,” said Dr Quinn.

Péarlaí was recently shortlisted for the ‘Best Shopping Centre Innovation’ at the International Retail Property Conference MAPIC awards in Cannes, France.
