Now graduates who have already signed up to Queen's Alumni Online (QAO) – or those who join the University’s online virtual network – can claim a free gift when they make an online Welcome Centre purchase.

Alumni can ‘sign up’ at any time (by clicking on the banner above) to receive regular emails and other information from Queen’s, and to make sure that they that they don’t miss out on the many privileges that they are entitled to.

Encouraging graduates to join the Queen's Alumni Online network, Gerry Power, Communications Officer in the University’s Development and Alumni Relations Office, said: “Over 8,000 graduates have so far signed up to QAO, which ensures that they can keep in touch with Queen’s in the way that best suits them.

“As a small ‘thank you’ for current QAO members – and for anyone who decides now would be a good time to opt in to this graduate network – we’ve teamed up with the Queen’s Welcome Centre to offer a free gift for those shopping online for merchandise and memorabilia,” he added.

Current QAO members simply have to go to their personal home page where they will find details of the special code required to claim their free gift when shopping at Queen’s Welcome Centre. When new graduates sign up to QAO they will receive a confirmation email with details of the code.

Queen’s Welcome Centre is the Northern Ireland Tourist Board Local Information Office for South Belfast and a ‘one-stop’ shop for all official University branded memorabilia.

In recent months, the Centre launched an online retail facility, showcasing a range of Queen’s merchandise and making gifts and memorabilia available to the University’s 180,000 graduates around the world.

Commenting on the online shopping facility, Welcome Centre Manager Sara Johnston said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our new online shop and to offer this 10% discount to all our worldwide graduates.

“While we always look forward to welcoming graduates and visitors in person to the Centre throughout the day, this new online platform will extend our global reach to all Queen’s graduates and connections wherever they live – twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.”

Among the Queen's branded goods and gifts available through the Welcome Centre are ties and t-shirts, crystal and ceramics, scarves and stationery and prints and pennants. Also on offer are cufflinks, hoodies, jewellery, teddies, and much more, all carrying the distinctive University crest or logo.

“Situated where we are right in the heart of the University’s famous Lanyon Building, we are ideally placed to welcome graduates and tourists and of course staff and students,” added Sara.

“Best of all though, thanks to our new online facility, you no longer have to call in person to purchase your own piece of Queen’s nostalgia, and graduates can now avail of the 10% discount on all online purchases with the use of the ALUMNI18 discount code.”

The Welcome Centre is located to the left of the front door of the main University building. It is open from 8.30am-5.30pm (Mon-Fri) and 11am-4pm (Sat & Sun).
