Professor William (Bill) Anderson, BSc, MSc, PhD (died 2 September 2019, aged 75)
Bill graduated from Queen's in 1966 with a BSc in Civil Engineering. After a year’s teaching at Portadown College, Bill completed an MSc in 1968 and a PhD in 1973 in Civil Engineering at Strathclyde University. He went on to lecture in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering in Sheffield University in 1972 and became Head of Department in 1996. Bill went on to become the Professor of Geotechnics until his retirement in 2006.
Bill is survived by his wife Jean, children Fiona, Judith and Valerie, and grandchildren Harry, Phoebe, Hope, Lara and Emily.
