Queen's Annual Fund - Projects Funded

Queen’s University aims to offer students both a world-class education and the life experience to enable them to become the leaders of tomorrow. Since its launch in 1999, over £2.2 million has been pledged to the Annual Fund from over 5,000 alumni and friends. The Annual Fund in turn provides funding for projects that enhance the student experience, and supports University scholarships, bursaries, and other areas of greatest need.

QUB Active Campus

QUB Active Campus is a student led project which aims to engage inactive and hard to reach groups in inclusive fitness and healthy eating activities. The project focuses on supporting and increasing the number of female and disabled students reaching their required fitness levels through active journeys around campus and Belfast and engaging in sport.

Meccano Bridge Build

A footbridge made from Meccano spanned 100ft across Belfast’s Clarendon Dock, earning Queen’s a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest ever Meccano construction. The year-long project run by the School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering, and supported by Queen’s Annual Fund, encouraged more children to think about careers in STEM subjects and helped develop the skills of current students.
