QUEEN'S MBA – TIME TO TRANSFORM YOUR CAREER

27 August 2019

The Queen’s MBA brings together the academic excellence of one of the UK’s leading research Universities, with the innovative spirit of Belfast - just the ticket for those ready to transform their career.

Designed and delivered by Queen’s Management School and The William J. Clinton Leadership Institute, the programme is aimed at professionals with at least 5 years’ experience who are looking to take the next step in transforming their careers.

The MBA challenges you to develop as a leader with the adaptive skills and lateral, entrepreneurial thinking you need to shape the future. Progressing through the programme you integrate core management concepts including strategy, marketing, operations, corporate finance, and accounting.

These are illuminated through diverse learning methods, which challenge your critical and strategic thinking and help put theory into practice.

“The MBA at Queen’s changed my life and focus. It taught me to look at the world I was operating in in a different way,” said Ciaran Harvey, Senior Managing Director & CIO, Pramerica Systems Ireland & Prudential El Paso at Prudential Financial.

“The MBA really helped me to grow and mature both as a manager and as a leader and as an overall professional executive. Personally, it enabled me to go from a manager to a leader which got me the job I wanted to do for 17 years.”

Business engagement is a defining feature of the Queen’s MBA. Industry speakers and practitioners participate throughout the programme, giving masterclasses and taking part in classroom discussions. You apply what you learn to solve real business problems through live challenge assessments presented by local firms and entrepreneurs.

The challenges are intense experiences that test both your problem solving abilities, and your team building skills, allowing you to reflect on both your personal and professional development.

The MBA is capped with a 4-month MBA Project that allows you to integrate and apply your learning from across the programme into an organisational or entrepreneurial challenge. You can design and conduct a consulting project to investigate a live management issue, or explore a new business opportunity by developing a comprehensive business plan.

“The MBA at Queen’s invites guest lecturers from all over the world, from all kinds of business backgrounds. That was the eye opening part of the experience,” continued Ciaran.

“You got to speak to them about their business challenges and how they solved them and how they used resources to solve particular problems. When you are meeting these people one on one, you get the benefit from relationship building and peer interactions and networking.”

The programme offers you the chance to deepen your knowledge and specialise in the emerging areas of business analytics and social innovation.

  • Business Analytics is a vital area of expertise for an increasing number of industries and sectors.
  • Social innovation offers new ways of thinking about addressing global challenges and creating solutions that support social progress.

An international study tour is integrated into the programme and linked to the specialisation modules. This allows immersion in a different working culture and business environment, whilst gaining insights into global business trends.

Through a year-long leadership development module, and guided by coaches from the Clinton Leadership Institute, you will develop insight and self-awareness required for effective leadership in a global context.

The MBA is offered on a full-time (one year) and part-time (two year) basis for local, domestic and international students.
