Queen's joins with UoT to develop future cancer leaders
Thanks to an innovative transatlantic partnership, clinicians training in Northern Ireland will soon be able to develop specialist skills.
Queen's Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) has announced a Clinical Doctoral Training Programme in Precision Cancer Medicine with the world renowned Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in the University of Toronto.

New William Wright Technology Centre at Queen's
A new engineering research facility has been established at Queen's which recognises one of the Wrightbus company founders.
Named after Dr William Wright CBE who received an Honorary DSc from Queen's in 2010, the new Centre acknowledges not only his contribution to industry in Northern Ireland but also his relentless drive in the development of innovative technology to reduce fossil fuel usage and emissions which harm the environment.
The William Wright Technology Centre will be based in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and will open next summer.

Queen's publishes Brexit Resource Guide
Queen's new Brexit Resource Guide will simplify issues relating to the UK's withdrawal from the EU. The UK government is expected to invoke Article 50 sometime before the end of March 2017, to trigger the start of the process.
The free Guide, featuring articles by leading academics, will be updated on a regular basis.

Invitation to Charter Day Dinner
The Queen's Graduates' Association (QGA) annual Charter Day Dinner on Friday 25 November 2016, will this year welcome as its Special Guest Jonathan Scott, the acclaimed zoologist, TV presenter, photographer and Queen's graduate. The 'black tie' gala evening will also include the presentation of the 2016 First Trust Bank Queen's Graduate of the Year.

AFBI role for BAgr graduate
A 1980 Agriculture alum who began his career at the Grassland Research Institute in Devon, has been appointed Chief Executive at AFBI, the NI Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute in Belfast.
Dr Sinclair Mayne is an expert in dairy cattle, cattle grazing, grass production and improving the efficiency of milk production.

Naomi Long new Alliance leader
Naomi Long, who graduated in 1994 with an MSc in Civil Engineering, has taken over the reins of the Alliance Party, having been deputy leader for 10 years.
The East Belfast MLA, who was elected unopposed, succeeds fellow Queen's alum, David Ford, who held the post since 2001.

European Researchers Night success
Forty local researchers took part in the first European Researchers Night held recently at the Ulster Museum. Organised by the Natural History Museum and over 250 cities across Europe, among those taking part from Queen's was Dr Danielle Soban (left), from the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.
Dr Soban was on hand to discuss why airplanes look the way they do, and gave people the opportunity to design their own aircraft.

Maths Festival held at Queen's
As part of MathsWeek Ireland 2016, the School of Mathematics and Physics held a Julia Robinson Maths Festival at Queen's in October. Such events aim to inspire students to explore the richness and beauty of maths through activities that encourage collaborative, creative problem solving.

Annual QUAL Dinner - London
Only a limited number of places are still available for the annual Queen's University Association London (QUAL) black tie dinner on Thursday 10 November 2016 in the Chartered Accountants Hall (One Mooregate Place).
With a piano recital by Mr Barry Douglas in the company of the Ambassador for Ireland His Excellency Mr Dan Mulhall and the President and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's Professor Patrick Johnston, it's sure to be a great night!

Annual Meeting of Convocation
This year's Convocation Lecture and Annual Meeting of Convocation will take place on Thursday 17 November at Queen's.
Delivering the prestigious Convocation Lecture will be Baroness Nuala O'Loan DBE MRIA, former NI Police Ombudsman (1999-2007).
