3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP IN A CHANGING WORLD

20 March 2018

Queen’s University Belfast has announced details of the third International Conference on Women and Leadership in a Changing World, which will take place in Belfast on 21-22 May 2018.

Working in partnership with the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Allstate Northern Ireland (NI) and NI Women in Business, Queen’s hosted the first in the series of annual international conferences in September 2016, while the second was held in Lowell in November 2017.

This year’s event, which promises to be ‘dynamic, informative and challenging’, will cover four topical themes: Equal Pay, Equal Opportunity; #MeToo – Starting the Conversation; The Future of Work; and Women in Society.

It will provide a platform for delegates to participate in keynote sessions, panel discussions and with an opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues in an engaging and professional environment.

Kicking off in Belfast City Hall at 6.30pm on Monday 21 May with a networking event, including dinner, a keynote speaker and entertainment, the conference will move to Riddel Hall at Queen’s University at 9.00 am on Tuesday 22 May.

Speakers will be drawn from a variety of areas including business, commerce, public sector, education, technology, and the health service in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the United States of America and further field. Keynote speakers already lined up include Christine Aumayr-Pintar, an expert on gender pay gaps.

Additional speakers, who will provide a range of views on how women leaders working in equal partnership with men can deliver the best outcomes for a changing world, will be announced on the website as they are confirmed.

Queen’s is recognised nationally and internationally for its work in promoting the careers of women in academia. It was one of the founding members of the Athena SWAN movement in 2005 and the first university to receive a SWAN Silver Institutional Award, since renewed three times.

At present, Schools in Queen’s hold two Gold, eight Silver and five Bronze departmental awards – one of the largest number of awards held by any UK university.
