Dr John Gray, MB, DIP-PG, BSc (Ox) (died 28 July 2019, aged 54)

John grew up off the Antrim Road in north Belfast and attended Ben Madigan Prep and Belfast Royal Academy. He went on to complete a biochemistry degree at Queen’s College, Oxford before following in the family tradition in studying medicine.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine in 2006 and a Postgraduate Diploma in 2011, both from Queen’s.

 

John worked for a time at the Ulster Hospital, where he met his future wife, Sarah. He went on to work in the Lagan Valley Hospital before becoming a consultant in the Mater Hospital in 2008 and later moving to the South Eastern Trust in 2016. He had also undertaken reconciliation work at Corrymeela helping young offenders.

 

John took ill unexpectedly and is survived by his wife Sarah and three children.
