QUAAM – THREE-IN-ONE WEEKEND EVENT!

03 September 2018

Members of the University’s alumni association in Malaysia, gathered in Ipoh for a weekend of networking, celebration and sport, as part of a three-in-one event held on 18 & 19 August.

Over 40 QUAAM (Queen’s University Alumni Association, Malaysia) members attended the busy weekend as part of the Association’s 2018 Annual General Meeting in the Meru Valley Golf Resort in the Perak, Malaysia’s enchanting silver state.

Those present gathered together to celebrate Merdeka Night on Saturday 18 August – much as they did back in their University days at Queen’s in Belfast – two weeks ahead of the national Merdeka Day.

Over a dozen members were up early the following morning to take on the challenging Meru Valley course, in the annual QUAAM Golf Tournament, with the first tee off at 7am.

An even earlier start was required for some of the non-golfers who bravely joined Queen’s Alumni Running Team to take part in the 21km (starting at 4am), 10km (at 7am) or 5km (at 7.30am) races, which were part of the 7 Bridges Run, starting at Kinta Waterfront in Ipoh.

The Dinner and Golf fees were very generously sponsored by QUAAM Secretary and Vice President Dato Lim Si Boon.

QUAAM organises regular events and activities to keep the University’s 1,500 graduates in Malaysia in contact with each other and with Queen’s in Belfast. The Association also supports visits by senior University personnel and student recruitment staff throughout the year.
