Reverend Ian McIlroy (died 1 August 2017, aged 62)

Rev Ian McIlroy, Minister of The High Kirk of Stranraer died suddenly on Tuesday August 1st, 2017.

Born and brought up in Northern Ireland and a former member of the Railway Street congregation in Lisburn, Ian graduated in 1990 with a BSc in philosophy and psychology. He went on to take a Bachelor of Divinity at St Andrews University graduating in 1994 before studying at Union College in Belfast to become a minister in the Presbyterian Church.

Moving to Scotland, he was ordained by the Presbytery of Wigtown and Stranraer, serving in the parishes of Kirkmaiden and Kinnaird before moving to the High Kirk in Stranraer in 2009.

Ian is survived by his wife Maureen, by their children Timothy and Lynsey and daughter-in-law Lauren, and by grandson Lucas.
