Leslie McFall (died November 2015, aged 71)

Leslie began his career as a lecturer in Hebrew and Old Testament at Belfast Bible College. He then became a Research Fellow at Tyndale House, Cambridge, before dedicating himself to full-time independent research until his death in November 2015. He took his BA in Semitic Studies at Queen’s University, Belfast, in 1974, and completed his PhD on the verbal system of Biblical Hebrew at Cambridge (Fitzwilliam College) in 1981 (published as the much-quoted The Enigma of the Hebrew Verbal System, 1982). He was awarded a Glasgow MTh in 1999 for his work on New Testament genealogies. His main interests also included the chronology of the Old and New Testaments; the harmonizing of the Gospel narratives; the importance of the Majority (Byzantine) text for New Testament textual criticism; and the elucidation of historical cruces in biblical texts.
