Dr Robert F Greene (died 8 March 2016, aged 87)

Robert Francis Greene MB BCh BAO 1958, died March 8, 2016 in Pittsburgh, Pensylvania at the age of 87. He was the son of the late Francis and Marie Manning Greene. He was the eldest of 6 boys. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1946. He then entered the University of Pittsburgh where he received a degree in biology.

He received his medical degree from Queen’s and had many fond memories of the years he spent there. As his health was failing he often wished he could go back “just one more time”.

An internship was served at the King’s County Medical Center in New York City. He then completed a five year residency in General Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center Hospitals and Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and was in private practice at the Indiana Hospital, Indiana, Pennsylvania where he served as Chairman of the Dept. of  Surgery. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons, Allegheny Co. Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

He is survived by his wife Anne, of fifty three years, children Kathleen, Patrick, Maureen and seven grandchildren.
