The 2015 edition of The Graduate is out!

21 October 2015

The annual Queen’s alumni magazine - The Graduate - has been published and is currently being distributed to 130,000 alumni and friends of the University around the world.

The magazine showcases alumni successes at home and around the world in the last year and highlights staff and student news and achievements from the University campus.

Featuring an in-depth interview with the University’s new Chancellor, Dr Thomas J Moran, who took up post earlier this year, the current issue also includes a feature on forty years of KTPs (Knowledge Transfer Partnerships) and an opinion piece by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Tony Gallagher on the crisis facing further education in Northern Ireland.

Speaking about the current magazine, Editor Gerry Power (LLB, 1982) said: “The Graduate provides a round-up of life at Queen’s and is instrumental in helping to keep alumni in touch with their alma mater and – for many – with Belfast and Northern Ireland.

“In this edition, readers are introduced to the new Graduate School at Queen’s which opened in April and they can see how their gifts to the University are having a major impact on student life. There's a chance to meet the First Trust Bank Queen's Student of Year, Laura Graham and, in a special focus on Malaysia, five graduates share their personal memories of student days in My Time at Queen's.

“More importantly, however, The Graduate showcases alumni achievements here in Northern Ireland and around the world. And it’s a great way for former students to maintain contact with each other,” he added.

Industry research on UK university alumni magazine readership indicates that the most popular sections are always ‘class notes’ – where graduates share their personal and career news stories – and the obituary pages, which recall the lives of former students and staff.

Those alumni who have lost touch with the University since graduating, and who would like to receive a personal copy of the 2015 issue of The Graduate, should contact alumni@qub.ac.uk and update their details on-line to ensure they get all future issues of the magazine.
